Matt Armstrong, MA, RCC, CCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor, #16507

CANADIAN CERTIFIED COUNSELLOR, #10004025

I am passionate about people and the discovery of what makes us human. I believe that we have a natural desire and ability to grow, but often require the support of one another to become unstuck and heal. This has been my experience, and the experience of those I have had the privilege to work with. I strive to create meaningful relationships with my clients built on safety, trust, and hope, where people feel accepted and challenged to grow.

I hold a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As a counsellor, I maintain an integrative approach, drawing from theories of trauma, attachment, and family/community systems. However, I always tailor my approach to meet the unique goals and strengths of each individual client.

On a more personal note…

I am inspired by the saints, mystics, and contemplatives of the Christian tradition. I feel alive when pondering the mysteries of God and believe that we fulfill our own destiny by becoming what God created us to be – fully ourselves. To become ourselves, we must face the wounds that protect what is most precious within us. This is where counselling can be helpful. Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, once expressed, "The greatest privilege in life is to become who you truly are."

To see me as a counsellor requires no adherence to any specific set of beliefs or practices. I offer inclusive mental health services for everyone regardless of ethnicity, sexuality, gender, faith, or income. The path to healing is wide enough for everyone who wishes to walk it.
